The Parador Santillana del mar is a three star hotel which is built in the style of a Cantabria manor house. It is located in the town’s main market square where the most characteristic buildings are located including Torre de Borja, Casa Del Aguila y la Parra, Torre de Merino and the Town Hall. Santillana Del Mar is a Cantabrian village which originally dates back to the 8th century. It has a zoo and nearby you can explore the Altamira Caves which contain one of the most incredible examples of prehistoric paintings in the world.
This parador has twenty five twin bedded rooms; one double bedded room and 2 single bedrooms. All come equipped with a telephone, satellite television, TV canal plus and a mini bar. Some of the rooms have a balcony and a small lounge. All have a robust beamed ceiling and Castilian furniture.
In the restaurant you can sample some the most traditional dishes of Cantabria. Including "cocido montanes" which is a dish of boiled white beans, vegetables, bacon and sausages, grilled sirloin steak with Tresviso sauce, Cantabrian hake fish with green asparagus, "sorropotun" and "quesada" (kind of pudding).
Sports amenities in this area include bungee-jumping, climbing, micro light aircraft flying and canoeing.
